England and Russia national teams face one another in their first group match of the European Championship 2016. The game will be played in Marseille at legendary Velodrome stadium on Saturday, June 11th.

Russia, in turn, played impressively in 2015, but fail to show their best football in 2016, recording only one win in their last five matches, drawing another one and losing three games. The aggregate goal difference in these five matches is 8-10. Russia have played two friendlies before Euro-2016, losing to Czech Republic 1-2 and drawing clash with Serbia, 1-1.
The opponents have met twice in Euro-2008 qualifying group when The Three Lions won confidently at home, 3-0, but suffered 1-2 defeat in Russia. It turned out that Russia finished second in the group, qualified for Euro-2008 and won bronze medals of the competition while England stayed home and watched the main stage of Euro on TV. However, Hodgson’s team appears to be superior in every component and should revenge for that failure in the upcoming match.
