Real Madrid face the neighbors Atletico Madrid on the Champions League final. The match is taking place at legendary San Siro on Saturday, May 28th.
Real have gained impressive conditions at the end of the season but excellent results didn’t allow to take the first spot away from Barcelona who clinched the title. Zidane’s men have gained 90 points with 110-34 goal difference but finished only second one point behind Bluagrana. Real are on the ten-match undefeated run in all competition that includes nine wins and only one draw with outstanding 25-5 goal difference. On the way to the final Real have eliminated AS Roma in round of 16, 4-0 on aggregate after two wins both in Rome and Madrid with the same score. The first leg of the quarterfinals ended with surprising 2-0 defeat at Wolfsburg, but Cristiano Ronaldo scored three at Bernabeu and earned his team the place in the semifinals. Manchester City were trying to offer battle to Real in both home and away fixture but the City still lacks class and Real took overall victory after 0-0 at Etihad and 1-0 win at home.

Atletico Madrid have finished two points behind the opponents with 88 points and 63-18 goal difference after 38 matches. Los Colchoneros show probably the best defensive football in the world and lost chances for the league title only after bitter defeat to the lowly Levante, 1-2, on matchday 33. The round of 16 legs ended with scoreless draws but Atletico were luckier in the penalty shootout. However, in the next two rounds Atletico showed all their strength defeating two main title contenders Barcelona (1-2, 2-0) and Bayern Munich due to away goal rule (1-0, 1-2). Defense led by Jan Oblak was the key to the success of the team this season.
Real and Atletico have faced one another in the final of 2013/2014 season when Sergio Ramos has scored late equalizer on the second minute of added time which was followed with thrashing defeat of Atletico in extra time, 4-1. The opponents met 10 times since that final, five matches ended with Atletico wins, four draws and only one victory of Real. Interestingly, only three of these matches ended with over 2.5 goals in the match. Considering the fact that final matches between equal opponents rarely feature number of goals and that Atletico play impressive defensive football we can expect small number of goals in such important clash.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals.
