Real Madrid face Manchester City at Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals.
Real’s leader, Cristiano Ronaldo, did not partake in the first match between these teams and it surely had it’s effect on the game. Still the primary goal for Zinedine Zidane was not to concede a goal at Etihad stadium and his side achieved it quite confidently. The game was rather slow, with lots of tackles and minimum goal attempts. Notably, Real Madrid were closer to victory than the hosts were. Still the stats of the visitors weren’t that impressive, 11 shots, 3 on target.

One could hardly understand what’s going on with Manchester City this season. From one hand, they managed to reach Champions League semifinals for the first time in history and it’s a good news. From another hand, Pellegrini’s side have been playing awfully inconsistently, especially on the road. On top of that, the Citizens were beaten by Southampton few days ago at St. Mary. Koeman’s side recorded 4:2 victory over Manchester City. And we should say Citizens needed that victory, as they still compete with Arsenal for the third spot. Obviously club’s management made a huge mistake announcing Pep Guardiola would take over the team after the season. One can hardly find motivation to battle for the top-spots when everything will be changed in summer, many players are believed to leave the Citizens. The same applies to Pellegrini who knows he will not be managing Man City next season. However, they at least strive to win Champions League title.
Prior to this game Man City are again considered as underdog as it was against PSG few weeks ago. Surely, it will be somewhat helpful as the pressure isn’t that serious. Real Madrid are unlikely to win La Liga title or at least overtake second Atletico, so the only top-flight trophy they can get this season is Champions League title. That’s why they will go all out in the second leg.
Prediction: Real Madrid to win.
