SJK take on the visitors TPS at “OmaSP Stadion” in the gameweek 12 of the Finnish Veikkausliiga. The match will be played in Seinajoki on Tuesday, June 12th.
Having won the Veikkausliiga champion’s title three years ago, SJK drop lower and lower in the standings with each season behind: the club finished last season, sitting on the sixth place in the table while two years ago the team earned the bronze medals. However, at the start of this season SJK look even worse than in the previous one as the side has managed to gain only two victories with six defeats instead in 11 encounters played. As a result, the club currently occupies the 10th position in the elite division standings, being above the outsiders only. It is curious that SJK collected more points on the road than in front of their supporters, having lost four out of six home tackles. The team’s current form also leaves much to be desired as its no-win run has been reaching seven clashes already, having picked up just three points during that period. However, although the club produces horrible results, the side doesn’t look hopeless in terms of the game shown.

After four-year break, TPS had deserved a right to perform in the Finish elite division, nevertheless, the team’s performance at the start of the season cannot be named a successful one as “Tepsi” collected six defeats, single triumph and four draws in 11 games conducted. Thus, it is not surprising that the Veikkausliiga returnee is sitting on the last place in the table now with seven points taken, being two points away from the safe 10th position. The side’s key problem is its poor play in attack while its defense is not the rock-solid either. TPS also feel uncomfortable on the road, having failed three out of five encounters conducted at away fields with single victory and a draw gained in them.
SJK and TPS met four times during last four years and three of those head-to-heads happened in Turku. However, despite the home-pitch advantage, “Tepsi” managed to succeed only in one those fights, having lost three of them instead, including this season’s 0:2 defeat in face of their fans. Thus, I expect for the hosts’ confident victory in the forthcoming battle as apart of their failures, SJK must beat the major underdog and drift up in the table.
