Wolverhampton was more modest in the offseason and held only two games. The team participated in the Asia Trophy tournament and managed to win it by defeating Manchester City of Pepe Guardiola in the final, albeit in the penalty shootout. Besides, the Wolves played two matches of the second qualifying round of the Europa League, where it beat the modest team Crusaders on average (6:1).
