FK Crvena Zvezda meets with Partizan in the final of the Serbian Cup. The match will be played on Thursday, May 23rd at Stadion Rajko Mitić (Belgrade)
A very interesting match will be held on the evening of May 23 in Belgrade. The principal metropolitan derby, and in parallel - the Serbian Cup finals between Crvena Zvezda and Partizan. Of course, the Stars, which made some noise in the group stage of the Champions League last autumn, are considered the favorites. But is Partizan really deprived of chances to fight for the trophy? I do not think so.
Partizan has won the national cup 3 times in a row. Crvena Zvezda, in turn, eliminated in the 1/8 finals stage in 2016, lost to the very Partizan in the final of 2017 and left the draw in the quarterfinals in 2018. It seems that the Stars treat the Serbian Cup not so responsibly, concentrating on winning the local Super Liga.

The national championship was confidently won, and a ticket to the Champions League has been obtained. The players of Crvena Zvezda have already received major cash rewards for achieving the seasonal goal. As for Partizan, the cup is really important, because it is a real chance to replenish the trophy cabinet and club treasury. In terms of motivation, Partizan is at least as good as Crvena Zvezda.
The Black-Whites managed to score a goal in 30 of the 37 matches of the Serbian regular championship, and they always gave battle to their sworn enemies from Crvena Zvezda. The results of previous head-to-head meetings are as those: 2:1, 1:1, 1:1, 2:1 and 1:1. I will say more - Partizan failed to score a goal in the confrontation with the Stars only in one of the 13 previous games. If we take a longer period, then Partizan scored in 21 of the 28 previous matches.
Partizan has progressed to the Serbian Cup final for 7 times after Montenegro disjoined from Serbia, and the club definitely scored a goal in 6 games. While making its way to the current finals, Crvena Zvezda conceded even from fairly modest teams like Mladost, Radnik and Backi. I suppose that it will also concede from Partizan, which is charged-up for success.
Prediction for the match: Partizan to score over 0.5 goals
