APOEL take on the visitors Astana at the GSP Stadium in the first leg match of the UEFA Europa League play-offs. The match will be played in Nicosia on Thursday, August 23rd.

Astana were very lucky to go through Midtjylland in the second qualification round of the Champions League. The crucial goal came on the 94th minute of the first leg match against the Danes for them (2-1 on their home field. 0-0 on the away field). However, in the third qualification round the team lost cleanly to Dinamo Zagreb (0-2, 0-1). Thereby the team got knocked out to the Europa League.
